Last year, our CEO, Marc Verstaen, made predictions about how the cloud would be evolving. These predictions are still visible here for all to see.
Here are his predictions’ update: Themes from Last Year Progress Further, Software Tools Consolidation.
1 – Serverless architecture has seen significant adoption in the last 12 months. This is only the beginning of course. We can expect next year to see more and more solutions available to manage and debug serverless systems. Marc also expects to see AI entering this field to provide assistance to configure and improve security for serverless and container based architectures.
2 – Quantum computing has been in the news for big announcements. We are getting near a point when early adopters will start looking at quantum computing as a new green field and write software that we can’t yet imagine. It’s for them to figure it out and it’s going to be a lot of fun.
3 – Quantum networking is still a work in progress but moving quickly. Security appears to become the defining feature for quantum networking. Two U.S. national labs are planning a 30-mile network, fully secure.
4 – As expected collaboration for software development is more and more important for more and more decentralized teams. There are still very few tools able to reconcile tickets, issues and source code management, with a focus on communication, but as announced last year Anaxi made reporting on multiple data sources possible, along with sharing of the reports, and feed management for discussions.
